14 January 2019
Greetings and Happy New Year! I hope that you and your loved ones are well and your year is off to a great start.
I am excited to kick off the new year re-committed to #WagingJustice in new ways designed to unleash courageous action to usher in a more just and peaceful world by as many justice-hearted people as possible.
I look forward to sharing what I call “SIPO”—my own self-imposed persistent optimism. This alchemy of clear-eyed optimism mixed with courage can fuel anyone’s drive to pursue justice for all, no matter the odds. This week, I’m happy to announce my 2019 opportunities for joining forces so together we can “Build the Movement” with a sense of persistent optimism and hope.
Let me sum it up simply, truthfully, and hopefully: I believe in the genius and spirit of humanity, and I believe that our future is in our hands. Let’s join forces to advocate for bold, transformational, and common-sense solutions to the challenges of our time in the years ahead.
I am very excited to offer new pathways for my work in 2019 to “Build the Movement” by connecting deeply with people, communities, campaigns, and networks. I’m excited to work with you directly to create fun and inspiring experiences and high impact justice experiments!
There are many opportunities for each person to identify harnessing justice-hearted action within yourself, in your family, your community, and in our world. Here are some big-picture advocacy priorities that I will be pursuing:
1. Call for Rapid Climate Restoration & Transition to 100% Clean Renewable Energy
We can call for the passage of comprehensive legislation at the federal, state, and local levels to rapidly accelerate climate restoration and the rapid transition to 100% clean and renewable energy to ensure our planet is habitable for future generations and to create jobs, end poverty, upgrade infrastructure, and generate economic opportunity.
2. Call for Climate Smart Sustainable Development
We can call for bold action in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Climate Accord — the world’s ambitious agendas for achieving social, economic, environmental, gender, and racial justice by 2030. We can rapidly accelerate climate-smart, sustainable development in our homes, communities, institutions, and our world to create winning lives for everyone in healthy balance with Earth.
3. Call to End Child Sexual Abuse and Incest
We can call on all parents, families, guardians, teachers, coaches, clergy, and all leaders in society to break the silence and create safe spaces for survivors to reveal and heal their hidden trauma from sexual violence. Let’s create a global and inclusive healing movement.
4. Call for Gender Equality, Universal Health Care, and the End of AIDS
We can call for gender equality, universal health care program of prevention and care for all Americans and we support global efforts to end HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and other infectious disease epidemics while building global movement accelerate action toward universal health care and to protect our planetary health.
5. Call to Restore Our Democracy
We can call for major reforms of our political system to ensure fairness, freedom, and justice for all. Innovative solutions can be deployed to address low voter turnout, gerrymandering, and campaign finance rules and to combat racially-biased voter suppression and mass incarceration. We can build the movement to restore our government to be run “by the people, for the people,” instead of “by the greedy, for the greedy.”
I know this seems like a lot of priorities, but I want to let you know: I strongly believe that if we join forces, we can do it all! We can dramatically accelerate progress to achieve social, economic, environmental, racial and gender justice—in our time! Perhaps, we are the ones that we have been waiting for?
If you are interested in partnering with me to address challenges and create new opportunities to #BuildtheMovement, here are specific opportunities:
#BuildtheMovement Public Events
Let’s join together and mobilize your communities, organizations, and/or network to #BuildtheMovement and apply “Waging Justice” values: speak truth, be bold, serve justice for all, and live with persistent optimism. Events can be designed to support particular opportunities within each community. Additionally, I will continue scheduling book events in support of the launch of my memoir, Waging Justice: A Doctor’s Journey to Speak Truth and Be Bold.
#BuildtheMovement Advocacy Partnerships

Justice-Heart Opening Mentorship Sessions
I am continuing my outreach to individuals, couples, and families by offering mentorship sessions to explore and experiment with incorporating “Waging Justice” values in daily life—walking the talk. Participants will leave with more clarity and courage for embracing vulnerability, hope, and justice in every aspect of their lives.
“Journey to Justice” Workshops
I am available to co-design “Journey to Justice” workshops for groups and organizations to create a safe space to explore practical applications of using waging justice as a compass for making choices on how we live our lives and how we have an impact in the world. Workshops can be custom-designed to meet the specific needs of your community.
Join the #BuildtheMovement Team
If you are interested and available in joining a diverse group of leaders in the U.S. and around the world who are joining together to co-create #BuildtheMovement, please join the team. Together we are creating innovative ways to engage as many people as possible to #BuildtheMovement to create a more just and peaceful world.

19 December 2018
As 2018 winds down, I want to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude for all of the love and solidarity you have brought me in support of Waging Justice: A Doctor’s Journey to Speak Truth and Be Bold. THANK YOU!
I appreciate the hard work and support from everyone who helped arrange Waging Justice launch events in D.C and six states (California, Maryland, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia) at an array of religious venues, bookstores, home book clubs, academic institutions, and non-profits. I’m grateful also for the many opportunities I’ve had to share my ideas and my vision more widely through blogs, social media, print news, and radio interviews. I am humbled by the favorable reviews from readers and from experts at Kirkus Reviews, Conscience Magazine and the Advocate.
This author experience has been an amazing journey over these past four months. I have been deeply touched by Waging Justice readers who tell me how my stories are enriching their lives with optimism and courage. “Your vulnerability helped me be more vulnerable with myself,” said one, and my heart soared. I am learning so much from readers about how vulnerability plus truth can unleash inner healing and power, which in turn opens gateways for courageous action to usher in a more just and peaceful world.
As I write this, I’m working on ways to share and fully unleash what I call “SIPO”—my own self-imposed persistent optimism—to overcome cynicism and despair about what is actually possible in light of the utter turmoil of today. I’m learning that an alchemy of clear-eyed optimism mixed with courage can fuel anyone’s drive to pursue justice for all, no matter the odds.
I strongly believe that if we join forces, we can do it all: restore the climate, transition to 100% clean and renewable energy, end child sexual abuse and incest, end poverty, end AIDS, achieve universal health care and dramatically accelerate progress to achieve racial and gender justice—in our time!
Stand by for some exciting new Waging Justice offerings and happenings in early 2019 that I hope will catalyze efforts to “Build the Movement” forward. And anyone can join in!
I wish you and your loved ones happy holidays and a joyous, optimistic New Year.
Let’s make the impossible possible!
Yours in peace and solidarity,
Dr. Paul Zeitz
