The Day the We Take Action for Good

Have you shaken off the Turkey Slumber yet? Are you ready to take action? 

Did you shop ‘till you dropped on Black Friday, or you more of a click-it and get-it type that lives for Cyber Monday? If so, are you ready to click-and-take action? 

Whatever you did, I hope you had a marvelous holiday weekend. And I hope you didn’t miss this really good news about climate restoration about the Foundation for Climate Restoration. I also hope you’re ready to join us and take action tomorrow!

As you know, I’ve been committed to waging justice for 30 years, but tomorrow starts a powerful new journey, one that is more important than anything I’ve taken on before. 

Tomorrow we take action to save humanity!  

Why tomorrow? Because tomorrow is the one day a year where America focuses its collective attention on doing good in the world.

Tomorrow is GIVING TUESDAY, and in the last decade, it has literally gone viral. From a quirky online campaign to balance the commercialism (and gluttony!) of Thanksgiving, it has grown to a day where almost $400 million is given to social causes and charitable organizations.  

It’s the day we all think about how to make the world a better place.

It’s the day where Build a Movement 2020 must reach out and grow! 

If we want to have the resources and support to build a movement that grows and scales, we must be successful on Giving Tuesday. 

We need your help and it will only take a couple of minutes.

First thing tomorrow, please:

  • Show up first thing in the morning of Giving Tuesday and make a small donation on our crowdsource page here. 
  • Post at least twice tomorrow on your social media inviting friends and family to take bold action with you. 

By taking action, you combat our climate emergency. It’s a small action to call others to hold our leaders accountable for meaningful political change leading up to the next Presidential election and beyond. 

This is the moment of change. The start. The time we’ll look back on and say, “I was there. I was part of it.”

Our government dithers on climate action

While our government dithers, the responsibility falls on us as citizens. 

The U.S. population makes up just 5% of the global population but contributes nearly 30% of global greenhouse gases each year. 

We must face the fact that the human species is threatened and that we’ve collectively been complicit and complacent up to this point in the face of the climate catastrophe that is here now.

As heatwaves, floods, fires, massive storms, and droughts impact Americans’ daily lives, we are coming to realize that the next decade will determine the fate of future human generations. We are at the precipice.

To meet this challenge, we must urgently mobilize to build a movement that will decisively win the next election and will go on to serve as relentless watchdogs to hold the next President accountable for addressing the climate emergency during his or her term.

This year commit to waging justice

I have lived over half a century on this planet, most of them spent waging justice.

I have learned that each day I have the responsibility to choose the values by which I live by.

I commit my life to waging justice for everyone, everything, everywhere, now, and for all future generations.

I am taking full responsibility for living my life by this commitment. And I invite you to join me, today and every day going forward.

So what does Waging Justice mean? 

  • Waging justice means we can choose to rapidly eradicate injustice.
  • Waging justice means that I am committed to the survival of all of humanity.
  • Waging justice means that I will use my life to unleash every ounce of innovation and action to urgently address the existential threat that we all face as humanity.
  • Waging justice means I am taking each person as precious — each person with unalienable rights to justice, equal agency and privilege, and ensuring the rights of our collective humanity to live winning lives, and finally to ensure the rights of our planet Earth to sustain humanity.

All of these rights are of equal value, today and for all future generations.
