This week we learn more about our presidential candidates, but will learn more about these candidates and their commitment to Climate Restoration?
Based on the last debate, no. In fact, there was not a single question on climate change over the course of a two-hour debate on October 15. But as Axios reported, the backlash on social media, even from some of the candidates themselves, elevated the issue after the debate.
Join our Pre-Debate Live Event on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, 8 PM EST, to learn about the CREA President Candidates Report Card and the next steps to demand action.
We can hope this Democratic debate hosted by the Washington Post will be different.
But hope isn’t enough. Action is critical.
In fact, action is a key step in moving past climate anxiety toward hope, according to this article in Outside.
“It’s not hope that drives us into action, it’s action that drives us into hope,” says Rebecca Solnit.”
Do you want presidential candidates to take action?
The great news is it’s never been easier to sound the alarm on our climate emergency and take, positive, meaningful action toward change. This week leading up to and after the presidential debate is a perfect time to get involved.
I am hosting a Pre-Debate Live Event on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 EST. Join us online for a discussion of social media engagement during the debate and bold action we can take together after the debate.
We have a strong panel of climate restoration experts participating:
- Dr. Paul Zeitz, Founder, Build A Movement 2020,
- Margaret Klein Salamon, PhD, Founding Director, The Climate Mobilization,
- John Spies, Extinction Rebellion-NYC
- and other special guests in the hour before the Democratic Debate at 8:00 PM EST
We must work together to elevate climate restoration and demand our candidates become A+ students of Climate Restoration. Because right now, as our last CREA Bipartisan Presidential Candidates Report Card showed, no candidate is above a C+.
That’s not good enough.
C+ won’t solve this climate emergency. Climate questions must dominate the debate stage. Candidates with bold plans that will actually solve the climate emergency and restore our planet’s health must emerge before we vote.
The first primaries are coming soon.
Now is the time to demand more.
Join us online to learn more about climate restoration, debate watch strategies and how easy we’ve made it for you to get involved and make a difference.
